Rana Plaza: Trial in murder case begins

The trial in Rana Plaza murder case has begun on Monday through framing charges against 41 accused, including Rana Plaza owner Sohel Rana.

Dhaka district and sessions judge SM Kuddus gave order to frame charges after the hearing on Monday, reports UNB. 

The court fixed 18 September for taking witness statements. 

Another case filed under Building Construction Act on Rana Plaza incident began in June. A total of 18 people, including Rana Plaza owner Sohel Rana and his parents are accused in the case. 

On 14 June, Dhaka additional chief judicial magistrate Mostafizur Rahman passed an order to frame charges in the case filed under Building Construction Act.
A total of 1,129 people, mostly garment workers, were killed and some 2,515 others injured as Rana Plaza came down crushing in Savar near the capital Dhaka on 24 April, 2013.
