Six Bangladeshis detained in Indonesia

The Indonesian police in its Riau provincial capital of Pekanbaru have handed over six Bangladeshi nationals to the local immigration office after arresting them on 17 March.

ANTARA News reported that the police had arrested the Bangladeshi citizens while conducting a raid. They were reportedly arrested aboard a Daihatsu Terrios jeep.

The Bangladeshi nationals were named as Hossain, Quddus, M Djahural, Rahman, Mondol and Kamaruzaman.

"The six Bangladeshi citizens are being detained at the Pekanbaru city immigration office," spokesman for the Pekanbaru city police 2nd inspector, Dodi Vivino, was quoted to have said.

According to the report, after interrogating the Bangladeshi nationals, the detective unit of the Tanayan Raya police precinct found no evidence indicating that they had committed criminal offenses.
