Ballistic report confirms bullet from mayor’s shotgun hit journo

Shimul ID cardThe bullet found in the body of slain Sirajganj journalist Abdul Hakim Shimul was fired from the shotgun of Shahzadpur mayor Halimul Haque Miru, reveals the ballistic test report.

The ballistic report is prepared based on science of mechanics that deals with objects like bullets, especially its performance.
Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of Dhaka submitted the ballistic report with the Shahzadpur senior judicial magistrate's court on 6 March, said the police’s general registration officer (GRO) of Sirajganj court Ataur Rahman on Monday.
Abdul Hakim Shimul, Shahjadpur upazila correspondent of the Bangla daily Dainik Samakal, sustained bullet injuries during a clash between two associate bodies of Awami League in Shahjadpur on 2 February.
Later, he died on the way to Dhaka on 3 February.
Police arrested Shahjadpur municipality mayor Halimul Haque Miru, the prime accused in journalist Abdul Hakim Shimul murder case on 5 February from Dhaka.
