2 children die of snakebite in Magura, Satkhira

Two children were killed in separate incidents of snakebite in Magura and Satkhira.

In Satkhira, a schoolgirl died after she was bitten by a snake while sleeping in Shyamnagar upazila on Saturday morning.

The deceased is Suprabha Mandal, 10, daughter of Sachchidanada Mandal, a lecturer of Bangla Department of Shyamnagar Government Mohsin College.

Father of the deceased said family members rushed Suprabha to Shyamnagar health complex after she was bitten by the snake early in the morning, but the on-duty doctors declared her dead.

Shyamnagar police station officer in-charge Abdul Mannan confirmed the incident.

In Magura, an eight-year-old girl died from snakebite at Shimulia village in Sadar upazila on Friday, reports news agency UNB.

Quoting family members, Magura Sadar Hospital doctor Muktadir Rahman said Shamima Begum, daughter of Kalam Mia, a resident of Shimulia village, was bitten by a venomous snake in her sleep at their home at night.

She was taken to Sadar Hospital where duty doctors declared her dead.
