His four brothers are also activists of either Juba League - the youth wing of ruling Bangladesh Awami League (AL) - or AL’s student wing Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL).

A team of RAB-7 conducted a raid on the Juba League leader’s house near Choumuhony Station area in Pekua sadar around 5:30am this morning and arrested them.

The law enforcement said it has recovered arms, ammunitions, drugs and cash worth Tk 1,700,000 from their possession.

His four brothers are: Pekua upazila Juba League member Md. Alamgir, upazila Juba League’s relief and social welfare secretary Md. Ajamgir, upazila BCL’s former forest and environment affairs secretary Md. Qaiyum and upazila BCL’s current joint general secretary Md. Osman Sarwar Bappy.

According to RAB-7’s Cox’s Bazar camp commander Ruhul Amin, “The law enforcement conducted the raid acting on a tip-off that there were arms, ammunition and drugs in the house. Two LG guns, a one-shooter gun, ten bullets, yaba, and Tk 1,700,000 were confiscated from the house.”

Meanwhile, a group of ruling AL activists staged demonstrations in Pekua Bazar city and Pekua Choumuhoni rail-station areas in the morning protesting at the arrest of their leaders.
