Cop hacked in Chuadanga

A sub-inspector of police sustained stab injuries in an attack by some miscreants at Firmpara area in Chuadanga town on Monday night, reports news agency UNB.

The injured is Wahid Hossain, sub-inspector of Chuadanga district town police outpost.

Chuadanga sadar police station officer-in-charge Tozammel Haque said some miscreants swooped on a patrol team of police at the area around 9:30pm, and the team challenged the miscreants.

In the ensuing skirmish SI Wahid was stabbed indiscriminately leaving him critically injured.

On information senior officials of district police rushed to the spot and rescued the SI and admitted him to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital.

Abdul Momen, additional superintendent of police said several stab marks were found around the shoulder and neck of the injured SI.

After the incident, locals managed to hold one of the attackers and gave him a beating.

The detained attacker was identified as Mintu, son of Budo Mandal of Haquepara area of Chuadanga municipality.

Later locals handed over Mintu to the police in severely injured condition, Abdul Momen added. He was admitted to hospital under police custody.

Police started block raid in the area after the incident.
