DU expels 15 students for admission forgery

Dhaka University authorities have permanently expelled 15 students on charges of adopting fraudulent methods for admission to the university.

The decision was taken Tuesday at the university syndicate's meeting, said vice chancellor professor Akhtaruzzaman, reports UNB.

"On 4 Jan the disciplinary committee suggested expelling these students for adopting unfair means in the admission test and involvement in admission test fraud. The Criminal Investigation Department (CID of police) found strong evidence against them connected with admission fraud," said VC.

"After investigation of all proofs provided by the CID and disciplinary committee, the syndicate meeting finalised the decision to expel them," he added.

The expelled students are: Navid Anjum Tonoy of Geography and Environment Department; Md Mohiuddin Rana of Physics; Abdullah Al Mamun of Applied Chemistry and Chemical Technology; Nahid Iftekhar and Md Rifat Hossain of Political Science; Md Biazid of Psychology; Md Azizul Hakim of World Religion and Culture; Prosenjit Das of Sanskrit; Fardin Ahmed Sabbir of Health Economics; Md Tanvir Ahmed Mallik of Economics; Rafsan Karim of Islamic Studies; Anisur Rahman Anik of Bengali; T M Tanvir Hasnien of History; Munshi Md Sujaur Rahman of Education and Research; and Nazmul Hasan Nayem of Pali and Buddhist Study department.
