Home minister Asaduzzaman Khan on Sunday said the government has strengthened security measures for foreign nationals, including diplomats stationed in Dhaka and tourists in the country.

“We’ve strengthened security measures and intelligence vigilance,” he told parliament, reports UNB.

The home minister informed this to the House while responding to a question of Begum Lutfa Taher, MP (Women Seat 40).

Asaduzzaman said the improvement in law-and-order situation and peaceful and stable environment are prerequisites for development activities.

The minister mentioned that the government introduced the police helpline app to make sure that people get their desired services.

“We’ve already formed an anti-terrorism unit [of police] to prevent terrorism and militants activities in the country,” Asaduzzaman said.

He said the government agencies concerned have been working to make the country free from illegal drugs.

“We’re talking about a social movement. We’re working on a mechanism to fully control the illegal use of drug,” he said recalling the prime minister’s zero tolerance to drugs policy.

Responding to a question, the minister said the law will take its own course if anybody takes law in his or her own hand.
