Pro-BNP JU teachers protest at Khaleda verdict

Pro-BNP teachers and employees of Jahangirnagar University (JU) formed a human chain on the campus on Thursday afternoon protesting at the verdict sentencing BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia to five years' imprisonment in a graft case.

Nationalist Teachers-Officers-Staff Forum organised the human chain programme at the Central Shaheed Minar around 3pm, reports UNB.

Professor Abdul Latif Masum at the government and politics department said the 'motivated' verdict has paved the way for the downfall of the government.

Among others, professor Sayed Kamrul Ahsan at the archaeology department, professor Md Shamsul Alam Selim of government and politics department, professor Md Sharif Uddin of mathematics department and associate professor Nurul Islam of geography and environment department were present.

Meanwhile, activists of JU unit Bangladesh Chhatra League brought out a procession on the campus hailing the verdict.
