3 killed in Cox’s Bazar road crash

Three people were killed as a bus ran over a trolley on Cox’s Bazar-Chittagong highway at Napitkhali village in Sadar upazila of Cox’s Bazar on Sunday morning, reports news agency UNB.

The deceased were identified as trolley driver Saiful Islam, 28, son of Abdul Alim, Nazrul Islam, 30, son of Mozahar Ahmed, and Jashim Uddin, 30, son of Abdul Mazed. All the victims were residents of Dakkhin Napitkhali village.

Anwar Hossain, sub-inspector of Malumghat highway police outpost, said the Cox’s Bazar-bound ‘Hanif Paribahan’ bus hit the trolley on the highway around 11:30am, leaving its driver Saiful dead on the spot and two passengers critically injured.

The injured were taken to Malumghat Christian Memorial Hospital where doctors declared them dead.

On information, police recovered the bodies and sent those to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital for autopsy.

Police also seized the bus.
