Teenager dies for ‘doctor’s negligence’

A teenage boy, who took poison in a bid to commit suicide, has died allegedly for negligence of duty by a physician at Abhaynagar Health Complex in Jessore, reports UNB.

The deceased is Saju Mollah, 15, son of Sabuj Mollah of the upazila headquarters.

Locals said Saju was taken to the hospital after he took poison around 9:00pm on Sunday.

However, on-duty physician Dr Sagata Das went out of the hospital for private practice without attending the boy, they alleged. The boy died around 7:30am on Monday.

Meanwhile, locals brought out broom processions in Noapara Industrial area in the morning and at noon demanding punishment of the physician.

Contacted, Dr Sagata Das denied the allegation.
