2 cops held for looting cattle trader’s money

Detectives on Wednesday detained four people, including two policemen, on charge of looting around Tk 950,000 from a cattle trader.

The detainees are assistant sub-inspector Abdur Rauf and constable Nadim of Dumuria police station in Khulna, and Moni, driver of Kamalnagar village, and Raju Hossain Ghospara village in Sadar upazila of Satkhira.

Akkas Ali, officer-in-charge of Khulna Detective Branch of police, said the two policemen snatched Tk 945,000 from cattle trader Liton Sarder of Nalkura village in Satkhira Sadar upazila from Chuknagar in Khulna on 15 February.

Later, the victim filed a general diary (GD) with Dumuria police station accusing the duo.

Khulna DB police arrested the policemen from the police station after the allegation was found to be true in primary investigation.

Later, the two others were arrested from Satkhira as per the information given by the policemen.

Two years back, ASI Abdur Rauf was arrested on charge of snatching gold from a smuggler in Patkelghata upazila of Jhenidah.
