Judge Md Akhteruzzaman of the special judge court-5 passed the order and fixed Monday for placing arguments in the case.

On 8 February, the special court-5 of Akhtaruzzaman convicted former prime minister and BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia and sentenced her to five years’ imprisonment in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.

Khaleda’s lawyer Sanaullah Miah said the court extended the bail until Monday as the High Court accepted Khaleda’s appeal against the verdict in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft.

Meanwhile, Mosharraf Hossain Kajol, a lawyer of the Anti-Corruption Commission, said that he moved a petition to court to produce Khaleda Zia before court on the next day hearing.

On 8 August 2011, the ACC filed the Zia Charitable Trust graft case with Tejgaon police station accusing four people, including Khaleda Zia, of abusing power in raising funds for the trust from unknown sources.
