A Sylhet court on Monday placed Sohagh Mia, an associate of Foyzur Rahman, on a seven-day remand in a case filed over the knife attack on eminent writer professor Muhammed Zafar Iqbal, reports UNB.

Sylhet metropolitan magistrate Saifuzzaman Hero passed the order when police produced him before the court with a seven-day remand prayer.

Following the confessional statement of Foyzur Rahman alias Faizul, the prime accused in the case, police arrested his friend Shohagh Mia from Kalibari residential area in the city early Monday, said Abdul Wahab Mia, additional deputy commissioner of Sylhet metropolitan police.

Zafar Iqbal came under knife attack on the campus of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) on 3 March. Police arrested Foyzur, 25, from the spot.

Later, a court here on March 7 placed Foyzur Rahman alias Faizul on a 10-day remand in the case.

Foyzur also made confessional statement under section 164 before the court on Sunday.
