The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Wednesday summoned Ha-Meem Group managing director AK Azad for 'amassing wealth illegally'.

Signed by the anti-graft watchdog's director Mir Mohammad Jainul Abedin, the ACC letter asked Azad, a former president of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), to be present at its office on 3 April.

ACC spokesman Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya told Prothom Alo that they were investigating allegations of tax evasion and amassing illegal wealth against Azad.

Earlier on Tuesday, Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (RAJUK) demolished part of Azad’s Gulshan residence built allegedly without any approved design.
