BNP calls govt celebration circus

The Awami League government is deceiving the people by talking about development in the country devoid of democracy and in the reign of massive corruption, says the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).

BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi told a media briefing at the party’s central office on Thursday that the government is making mockery with recognition of Bangladesh as a developing country by celebrating it.

“In the name of development, the officials and employees of the republic are being blackmailed, compelled to join the programme of the Awami League,” he said.

The BNP leader mentioned that AL president, prime minister Sheikh Hasina is holding meeting spending taxpayers’ money and seeking vote for Awami League.

“The way the government officers are being used is a clear violation of the electoral code of conduct,” he said and blasted the election commission for overlooking such violations.

Rizvi pointed out that a reception is being hosted by AL president and prime minister Sheikh Hasina causing public suffering in the city.

“Traffic has come to a half in Dhaka city. The people remain stranded,” he added.

The BNP leader alleged that the AL is ‘infamous for looting resources of others’.
