Woman’s leg crushed under city bus

The right leg of a private university student was crushed as she was caught between a road divider and a bus in Farmgate area in the capital on Wednesday morning, reports UNB.

The victim is Runi Akhter, MBA student of the University of Development Alternative and a resident of Zigatola area.

A speedy bus of 'New Vision Paribahan' ran over her when she was jumping towards a road divider in front of Ananda Cinema Hall around 8:30am, pressing her right leg, said the victim's father Rafiqul Islam.

Passers-by rescued the victim and sent her to National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (Nitor), her father said.

"She was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit," he added.

Police detain the bus driver and his assistant along with the bus, Sub-inspector Emdadul Haque of Tejgaon police station said.
