BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Sunday claimed that his party chairperson Khaleda Zia is deprived of proper treatment despite being severely sick.

The Bangladesh Nationalist Party leader said this at a press briefing at the party’s Naya Paltan central office in the morning.

Rizvi said the medical board only recommended for physiotherapy after a 'farce' x-ray and blood test whereas the BNP chief is an elderly person and is suffering with eye and knee complications.

Khaleda, a former prime minister, is also facing other complications as she has been kept in an unhealthy environment in the jail, said the BNP leader.

Rizvi also said it is not possible to identify the health issue of the BNP chief with only blood test and X-ray when the X-ray reports of Khaleda suggested that she has problems in her shoulder and hip bones.

The BNP leader also claimed that the government also did not allow Khaleda's personal physicians to examine her.

Rizvi alleged that government jailed Khaleda in a planned way and now they are denying her proper treatment. The BNP leader also said Khaleda was denied a chance to meet her relatives in jail.

He demanded Khaleda's immediate release. "Let her then decide what should be the best treatment," said Rizvi.
