The United Arab Emirates (UAE) will recruit Bangladeshi nationals in 19 categories through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), said the state-run news agency Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS).

Bangladesh and the UAE on Wednesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for recruiting manpower from Bangladesh in 19 categories after a long discussion, BSS said quoting “an official message”.

The state-run news agency, however, did not clarify the “official message” or did not quote any excerpt from the signed MoU.

Secretary of ministry of expatriates welfare and overseas employment Namita Halder and under-secretary of ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation of UAE Saif Ahmed Al Suwaidi signed the MoU on behalf of their respective sides in Dubai.

Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation of UAE Nasser bin Thani Juma Al Hamli witnessed the MoU signing ceremony. The MoU was signed on the basis of interests and compliance of the both countries.

Bangladesh ambassador to the UAE Mohammad Imran, additional secretary of home ministry Mohammad Azharul Haque and officials concerned were also present.

Considering the objectives of safe, well-disciplined and responsible labour migration, the MoU was signed, claimed BSS.
