One student killed, 3 injured in wall collapse

At least a student was killed while three others injured as an under-construction wall of a school collapsed on them at Shibrampur in sadar upazila in Pabna on Saturday morning, reports UNB.

The deceased is Afrin, 12, daughter of Ayub Ali of Shibrampur area while the injured are Afsana, Ami and Ismail.

All four are the students of Shibrampur Model Government Primary School.

Witnesses said the wall fell on the children when they were walking beside it around 10:30am, leaving them severely injured.

The injured were rushed to Pabna General Hospital.

Physicians at the hospital referred Ismail, a first grader and Afrin, a second grader, to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) as their conditions deteriorated.

Later, Afrin succumbed to her injuries at RMCH in the afternoon.

Meanwhile, students and their guardians blocked Dhaka-Pabna road for some time protesting the incident.
