The police are yet to arrest the Bangladesh Chhatra League leader, who reportedly assaulted a coaching centre director in Chattogram recently.

Nurul Azim aka Rony, BCL Chattogram unit leader, was sued on Thursday after a video showing he is slapping Rashed Miah of Uniaid coaching centre, had gone viral.

Rashed filed a general diary with Panchlaish police station accusing Rony of demanding extortion.

Officer-in-charge of Panchlaish police station Wali Uddin Akbar told Prothom Alo on Friday that they were trying to arrest Rony.

Prothom Alo has found that Rony is active on social media network Facebook.

He had given at least six posts on his Facebook account between Thursday and Saturday.

However, the alleged victim in the extortion case, Rashed Miah, is now on the run.

He said to a Prothom Alo corresondent over phone that he wants the police arrest Rony but the law-enforcers are not doing this.

“The police are just saying that they are investigating the matter but Rony has not been arrested as well,” he said quoting a sub-inspector of the Panchlaish police station.

He also informed Prothom Alo that he is not returning home as he fears that Rony and his associates might attack him again at his house.

Once the video went viral, Rony was removed from the BCL Chattogram unit general secretary position.
