Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of bdjobs.com AKM Fahim Mashroor was released on Wednesday afternoon, hours after his detention from the city's Karwan Bazar area.

Earlier, a team of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested Fahim around 12:30pm in connection with a case filed under the ICT Act, reports UNB.

Former Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) leader of Dhaka University unit Md Al Sadik filed the suit with Kafrul police station on 22 April.

In his complaint, the BCL leader alleged that Fahim, also a former president of Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS), spread scornful pictures and information of prime minister Sheikh Hasina using his Facebook ID during the recent quota reform movement.

DMP deputy commissioner (media) Masudur Rahman said a cyber security and crime division team of the CTTC unit detained Fahim for interrogation in connection with the case.

Later, he was released after the interrogation, the DC (Media) said.

Cyber experts have been scrutinising Fahim's Facebook ID in this regard, he added.
