The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court on Tuesday stayed a High Court order that directed Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) and Sajan Paribahan to pay Tk 10 million in compensation to the family of Rajib Hossain, reports UNB.

A three member bench of the Appellate Division headed by chief justice Syed Mahmud Hossain came up with the order.

The SC also directed the High Court to form an independent committee to fix the compensation and to find out who’s responsible for the accident.

The committee has to submit its report by 30 June, ordered the court.

On Monday, the SC deferred the passing of its order on two appeal petitions filed by BRTC and Sajan Paribahan.

On 17 May, the SC fixed 21 May to deliver its verdict after holding hearing on the petitions filed by BRTC and Sajan Paribahan.
