Ex-Juba League leader stabbed dead

A former Jubo League leader, who sustained stab injury in an attack at a local Jubo League office on Ghop Central road in Jashore district on Friday night, died on the way to Dhaka early Saturday.

The deceased is Arafat Munaf Liton, 40, former joint secretary of district Jubo League, reports UNB.

Jubo League is the youths’ front of ruling Bangladesh Awami League (AL).

A group of miscreants numbering 25-30 stormed into ward no. 3 Jubo League office around 10:00pm on Friday, said Kotwali model police station officer-in-charge Abul Bashar.

The miscreants stabbed Liton indiscriminately, leaving him critically injured and fled the scene blasting two crude bombs, he added.

Locals rescued the injured and rushed him to a local hospital. Later, he died on the way to Dhaka, the OC added.
