Boat capsize kills 2

Two people, including a woman, were killed and five others injured as a boat capsized in Jorsingha haor in the south upazila of Sunamganj due to strong waves on Sunday afternoon.

The deceased are Hosne Ara, 26, wife of Sajidur Rahman, a resident of Ukargaon village in the upazila, and Emdadul Haque, 60, son of late Furkan Ali of Jallabad village in Jamalganj upazila of the district.

Officer-in-charge of South Sunamganj police station Md Iftekhar Hossain Chowdhury said the boat carrying seven people sank around 5:00pm after being caught in a storm.

Two people on board drowned in the haor while five others managed to swim ashore, he added.
