Another leader of the Bangladesh General Students Rights Protection Council was allegedly picked up by the Detective Branch of police early Thursday.

Suhel, a third-year student of Jagannath University’s English department, is a joint convenor of the student platform’s JnU unit in the old part of Dhaka.

A team of around 10 people, introducing themselves as ‘DB men’ according to the witnesses, picked up APM Suhel from Chhatra Union’s former president Lucky Akter’s house in Shantinagar around 5:00am.

When asked about the matter, DB denied the allegation.

DB’s additional commissioner Debdas Bhattacharya told Prothom Alo that the DB did not arrest anyone of this name.

“Suhel is a student of my university department. He came here to watch the football match,” said Lucky.

Lucky also said around 4:00am, a team of around 10 people came and knocked on the door. “When we asked their identities, they introduced themselves as policemen. They asked me to open the door. When I refused, that they threatened to break down the door and enter,” said Lucky.

They finally entered, Lucky said, and conducted a search throughout the house. "They even seized our mobile phones and inspected everything."

Lucky also said DB men interrogated Suhel in another room of the house and then took him away.

When asked where they were taking Suhel, the DB men said they were taking him for interrogation on the quota reform issue.

On 23 May, Suhel came under attack at Bangla Bazar in Old Dhaka. He then underwent treatment at a private clinic and at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
