No arrest without warrant: EC

While urging law enforcement to remain vigilant against attempts to upend law and order during election period, election commissioner Shahadat Hossain Chowdhury has asked them not to arrest anyone without a valid warrant.

“None can be arrested in any false case or without arrest warrant,” Shahadat Hossain Chowdhury, a retired brigadier general, said while addressing a co-ordination meeting ahead of Rajshahi City Corporation elections at the divisional commissioner's office on Tuesday, reports UNB.

“If necessary, list of polling agents will be given to the election commission and police so that they can remain safe from any harassment,” he added.

Divisional commissioner Noor-Ur-Rahman and election commission secretary Helaluddin Ahmad, among others, were present on the occasion.
