List of ethnic minorities being prepared: JS

The government is preparing a list of the country's ethnic minorities, including the number of people of each group, reports UNB.

This was informed at the 30th meeting of the Parliamentary standing committee on cultural affair ministry, held at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban with its chairman Simeen Hussain (Rimi) in the chair.
The meeting was informed that an inter-ministerial meeting earlier gave directives to include the list of ethnic minorities in the gazette.
The parliamentary watchdog suggested the ministry to take an initiative for the construction of a new Kabi Bhaban in place of old Kabi Bhaban and rename 'Sarobar' as Nazrul Sarobar in the city's Dhanmondi area.
The meeting decided that the committee will visit Mainamati in Cumilla and Panam city in Narayanganj on 2 August.
Committee members cultural affairs minister Asaduzzaman Noor, Manoranjan Shill Gopal, Pankaj Nath, Pinu Khan and Jebunnesa Afroz were present at the meeting, said a Parliament Secretariat handout.
