Digging for ‘hidden treasure’ ends for first day

The excavation mission in search of 'hidden treasure' in a house near the office of Dhaka Electric Supply Company Limited (DESCO) in Mirpur-10 concluded for the day on Saturday afternoon, reports UNB.

Dadan Fakir, officer-in-charge of Mirpur police station said, "The digging was wrapped up around 3:30pm this afternoon (Saturday) for the day and will resume tomorrow (Sunday) morning."

Earlier, they started the digging work around 10:30am at the house of one Monirul Islam at Road-16 (Block-C) of Mirpur Section-10 in the presence of executive magistrate Md Anwar UzJaman, said the OC said.

He said that two separate GDs were filed earlier about treasures being remained hidden beneath the house. Later, they informed the matter to the district administration.

Monirul Islam, who is claiming himself as the present owner of the house, said he got the information of the hidden treasures from the house's previous owner who is a Pakistani national.

Monirul filed a General Diary with Mirpur police station on 14 July regarding the matter.

Meanwhile, the other GD was filed by Abu Toyab, a cousin of the previous owner of the house.

After the GD, some policemen were deployed to guard the house and then the digging work stated in presence of the executive magistrate.
