Home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal on Thursday said cyber security specialist Tanvir Hassan Zoha might have been arrested over the Bangladesh Bank heist.

Tanvir has remained missing since Wednesday night, according to his family.

However, the home minister admitted that he was sure if he was really arrested or not.

He made the statement on the whereabouts of Tanvir when his attention was drawn as he came out of a programme at Krishibid Institution in Dhaka on Thursday afternoon.

Tanvir’s wife Kamrunnahar said her husband, accompanied by a friend, was returning home by a CNG-run auto-rickshaw. They were stopped in the capital’s Kachukhet area at around 12:30pm (half-past Wednesday mid-night) by some people in plainclothes.

Both of them were picked up blindfolded in a microbus by the plain-clothed people.

After some time, Tanvir’s friend was dropped from the microbus and drove Tanvir away, Kamrunnahar added quoting Tanvir’s friend.

Kamrunnahar alleged that the police of Kafrul and Kalabagan police stations were not taking a general diary (GD) in this regard.

Tanvir, reportedly introducing himself as a cyber security specialist of Bangladesh Bank, recently expressed his views to the media over the $81 million heist.

However, officials said the ICT division has no involvement with Tanvir.
