Citi Bank, having the largest network of any global bank, has expressed its willingness to help Bangladesh companies to tap potential along the Belt and Road network.

Gerald Keefe, Citi’s managing director and head of corporate banking Asia and the Pacific, has said City has the local expertise and global relationships towards that end.

"The country (Bangladesh) is one of our fastest growing markets in Asia and we are confident to further support economic progress and growth by connecting Bangladesh and its leading companies across our network," he said.

Keefe, who was recently in Bangladesh, made the remarks in a statement on Tuesday, reports UNB.

During his visit, he met key clients of the bank and reviewed Citi's potential for further growth in Bangladesh.

Citi, which does business in over 160 countries, has a strong presence in the country, said the global bank.

It added, Citi is also an active bank across the Belt and Road Initiative, banking clients in 58 markets across the Belt and Road, more than any other bank.

Keefe has held a wide range of senior roles across Citi's institutional businesses and assumed the role of head of Asia Pacific corporate banking on 1 June 2016.
