English, science, math emphasised at Chevron-funded schools

Energy giant Chevron is supporting efforts to boost quality education in areas of its operation in Sylhet, the company said.

Its funds will enable school authorities to recruit additional faculty in English, Science and Mathematics to improve quality of teaching in those subjects.

Chevron has continued its support under its social investment programs for four schools near its Bibiyana Gas Field, said a company news release on Thursday.

A simple ceremony was held with representatives of the four selected schools at the gas field.

Three teachers will be engaged in each institution for the academic year, for a total of 12 in four schools, the release added.

High officials of the company and principals, teachers and representatives of the schools were present at the ceremony.
