Xiaomi officially enters Bangladesh market

Chinese mobile phones and accessories maker Xiaomi has announced its official entry into the Bangladesh market.

The company also launched its new handset, Redmi S2, in Bangladesh, with exceptional selfie capabilities on Friday, said a press statement.

The company endorsed its Mi Community in Bangladesh, an online forum for its Mi Fans.

Manu Jain, vice president of Xiaomi and managing director of Xiaomi India said, "We are excited to bring Xiaomi officially into Bangladesh for millions of our Mi Fans here. Over the last few years, the Bangladesh smartphone market has witnessed tremendous growth, double digits at times and we look forward to extending our share to the local industry.”

“We hope that with the official entry into this market, we will be able to bring all latest products to Bangladesh at an honest pricing for all our Mi Fans,” he added.

The Redmi S series is tailor-made for people who like self-expression and are eager to share exciting moments with others. It has a 16MP front camera powered by pixel binning technology with Xiaomi’s own AI Beautify features.

Redmi S2 will cost Tk 14,999, Redmi S2 also comes with a 12MP + 5MP AI dual camera on its back. It has a 5.99-inch 18:9 Full screen display and is based on the Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 625 platform.

Redmi S2 also has three slots; two for SIM cards and one microSD card of up to 256GB. Redmi S2 also features an IR blaster and AI face-unlocking. Redmi S2 will be in three colors -- Gold, Rose gold and Dark gray.
