Market witnesses fall in early trading

Trading on the country's both bourses - Dhaka Stock Exchange and Chittagong Stock Exchange - is underway with downward trends in early hours on Sunday as cautious investors were on selling spree.

After first one hour of day's trading, DSEX, the benchmark index of the DSE, went down by 34.91 points or 0.56 percent to reach 6144.40 points at 11:56 am.

The DS30 index, comprising blue chips also lost 13.92 points or 0.61 percent to reach at 2,246 points.

The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also lost 4.94 points or 0.35 percent to stand at 1,386.59 points.

Turnover, an important indicator of the market, stood at Tk 1,058.58 million riding on National Tubes and IFAD Autos.

Of the issues traded till then, 67 advanced, 184 declined, and 45 remained unchanged.

National Tubes was the most traded stocks with shares worth Tk 51.81 million with changing hands till then followed by IFAD Autos, Alif Manufacturing Company, BD Thai Aluminum and Keya Cosmetics.

The port city bourse - Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) - also witnessed downward trend in early hours with its Selective Category Index losing 48.74 points to 11,486.88 also at 11:58 am.

Of the issues traded till then, 30 gained, 88 declined and 17 remained unchanged with a turnover value of Tk 45.33 million.
