There is no remarkable blockbuster hitting the Dhallywood box office yet in the new year.

Putra, released on 5 January, has failed to attract the movie-goers. It is not a commercial hit in any way either.

No big-budget films with big stars are even in the pipeline until February.

Last year, many commercial hits were released from September up till December. Many of them were enormously appreciated by the viewers.

However, there are movies ready to be released from mid January to February. Pagal Manush is the only film in the list starring popular actress Shabnur. The others are Haimanti, Pathshala, Jiyo Pagla(Tollywood film, Detective, Obastab, Bhalobasha.com and so on. These films neither have big stars nor are big-budget ones.

The cinema crowd is disappointed. They said many films struck a chord with the viewers last year.

"But if there are no big films throughout the month, the film industry will lose the appeal to the viewers," said a producer Golam Kibria Mohammad Lipu.

But Ami Neta Hobo, Swapnojaal and Bhalo Theko, three big-budget films, are likely to be released on 9 and 16 February.

Giasuddin Selim, the director of Swapnojaal said, "We are looking forward to release the film in February. We will announce the date after we receive the censor board clearance".

Mushfiqur Rahman, the president of Bangladesh Film Director Association, said several films shot in the second half of last year would be released soon.
