Film fraternity celebrates Nat'l Film Day

The National Film Day was observed across the country in a befitting manner on Tuesday, reports UNB.

The National Film Observance Committee in association with Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) and Drama and Film department of Bangladesh Shilapakala Academy (BSA) arranged programmes marking the day.

The main and national event featuring fair, talk show, still photography exhibition and film screening was held at the BFDC.

On the other hand, Chalachitra Paribar separately arranged an event at the BFDC on the occasion.

A colourful rally, led by information minister Hasanul Haq Inu, was brought out from the BFDC in the morning. Directors, actors, producers and others took part in the rally.

Besides, a seminar titled 'Problems and prospects of the films of Bangladesh' was held at the BFDC where commerce minister Tofail Ahmed spoke as the chief guest. Later, a cultural function was held.

BSA arranged film screening, film carnival, seminar, open discussion on film, reunion of the film personalities, discussion and cultural event in its head office and 64 district offices on the occasion.

The government announced 3 April as the National Film Day in 2012.
