Water levels of 49 rivers rise

Water levels at 49 river stations monitored by Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (FFWC) have marked rises and 32 stations recorded falls.

Among the 90 monitored water level stations, three river stations have been registered steady while water level at five river stations are flowing above danger level, a bulletin issued by the FFWC said here on Sunday.

The Surma at Kanaighat and Sunamganj, the Kushiyara at Sherpur-Sylhet point, the Khowai at Ballah and the Kangsha at Jariajanjail are flowing above its danger level 19 cm, 3cm, 23cm, 7cm and 3cm respectively.

Significant rainfall was recorded at some stations in different districts during the last 24 hours ending at 6 am today.

A total of 115 millimetres (mm) rainfall was recorded at Sylhet, 70 mm at Ramgarh, 105.8 mm at Ramgarh, 61mm at Sheola, 95 at Kanaighat, 50mm at Brahmanbaria, 75mm at Sherpur-Sylhet and 41.8 at Narsingdi.
