Int’l Bangla lit fest ends today

The three-day long International Bangla Literature Conference will conclude on Monday on the premise of Bangla Academy, reports UNB. 

Former India president Pranab Mukherjee will be present at the closing ceremony of the conference as the chief guest. Earlier on Saturday, prime minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the literature conference.

International Bangla Literature Conference Organiser Parishad is arranging the literature conference with the collaboration with Nikhil Bharat Banga Sahittya Sammylan and Friends of Bangladesh.

Cultural affairs minister Asaduzzaman Noor, Indian artiste Joghen Chowdhury, parliament affairs minister of Jharkhand state of India Saryu Rai, director general of Bangla Academy Shamsuzzaman Khan will be present in the ceremony as special guests.

Emeritus professor Anisuzzaman will deliver the concluding speech with finance minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith in the chair.

Prominent filmmaker Nasiruddin Yusuf Bachchu will read out the declaration while Kamal Chowdhury will recite a poem in the ceremony.

The chief guest will also distribute the conference souvenirs among Shamsuzzaman Khan, ASM Shamsul Arefin, Satyam Roychowdhury, Muhammad Samad, Joyonta Ghosh, Hasan Arif, Tarik Sujat, and Pradip Bhattacharjee.

Singer Rezwana Choudhury Bannya will sing in the cultural part while poet and singers from Bangladesh and India will present the recitation and music at the Rabindra Chattar in the afternoon.

Some 300 litterateurs are taking part in the conference across the world while books translated in different languages and little magazines are being displayed for sale on the academy premises.

The conference features six seminars, two stage performances, musical event, film show, and storytelling and recitation events.

The event will end with a stage performance 'Payer Awaj Paowa Jai' in the Abdul Karim Sahitya Bisharad auditorium of the academy.
