Magical Nasir fires Sylhet to 10-wkt win

All-rounder Nasir Hossain steered Sylhet Sixers to secure 10-wicket margin victory against Chittagong Vikings to keep their last hope of the last-four race alive in the 37th match of the 5th Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) T20 at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadim on Sunday, reports UNB.

Sylhet Sixers chased down a tiny target of 68 for no loss in 11.1 overs where Sylhet Sixers skipper Nasir Hossain picked the career best five wickets and Nabil Samad bagged three wickets to handle the opponent batting castle

Opening partnership between Mohammad Rizwan and Andre Fletcher shared the unbeaten innings scoring 36* and 32* runs respectively.

Rizwan played an innings of 33 balls to fire six boundaries while Fletcher 34-ball innings comprises four boundaries and one six.

The previous highest wickets margin victory of 9 wickets with 19 balls remaining was also recorded by Sylhet Sixers against defending champions Dhaka Dynamites in the tournament opener at Sylhet International Stadium on 4 November.

Sent into bat first, Chittagong Vikings were all out for BPL this edition's lowest, till date, score of 67 in 12 overs.

The previous lowest score of 97 for 10 recorded in the seven-team league posted by Rangpur Riders against Table topper Comilla Victorians in the league's 35th match at the same venue on 2 December.

Irfan Sukkur, Luis Reece and Stiaan van Zyl were the double digit scorers with 15, 12 and 11 runs for Chittagong Vikings respectively.

Man of the match Nasir Hossain got five wickets for 31 in four overs. Nabil Samad bagged three for seven runs in three overs while Sharifullah took the remaining two for 23 runs in four overs for their side.

With the day's result, Sylhet moved up to 5th slot from 6th, collecting nine points from 11 games with four wins, six losses and one no results.

Sylhet Sixers last-four qualifications are now depending on their another must-win game against Comilla Victorians as well as Rangpur Riders have to loss two games in the remaining league matches.
