Richard Pybus, in Dhaka to interview for cricket’s head coach job, spoke of his vision for Bangladesh cricket on Wednesday.

He said once he was appointed, he would try to lift Bangladesh to 5th place in ODI ranking from 7th and to 7th from present 9th place in Test.

Richard Pybus, who previously coached the Tigers for four months in 2012, unveiled his plans in a multimedia presentation to the Bangladesh Cricket Board authorities.

BCB president Nazmul Hossain said, “Pybus’ presentation was definitely a good one."

“His presentation and perspective about Bangladesh cricket and future plans for the team were just outstanding,” he added.

“I’ve had a very good day here. Discussions were excellent,” said Pybus while speaking to newsmen after his interview.

Pybus presented a 10-year plan for Bangladesh cricket and 17-month short-term strategy targeting 2019 World Cup.

According to the short-term plan, Pybus wants to take Bangladesh at least to the semi-finals in the 2019 World Cup.

In the long-run, Pybus wants to establish a Regional Centre of Excellence in the country. He said the institution would hunt talent from the grassroots.

The BCB has been executing such a plan for 18 years, but to no avail.

However, the selection of the new coach has not been finished as yet, as, according to BCB, former head coach of West Indies and Ireland Phil Simmons is scheduled to arrive in Dhaka on 9 December for the job.
