Razzak becomes first Bangladeshi to grab 500 wickets

Former national team spinner Abdur Razzak has become first Bangladeshi to bag 500th wicket in the first class cricket on Wednesday.

The veteran spinner reached the landmark in the 2nd round match of the 6th Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL) against Walton Central Zone.

Prime Bank South Zone's Razzak claimed four wickets for152 runs in the match while his fellow, Mosaddek Hossain, grabbed three wickets for 59 runs.

Razzak touched the unique milestone days after another former national team cricketer Tushar Imran of the same team reached a landmark of producing 10,000 runs in the first class cricket.

Replying to Prime Bank's first innings totalling 448 runs, Walton Central Zone resumed the first innings Thursday morning with overnight score 313 for 2 and were all out for 505 runs in 150.4 overs.

Two down Mehrab Hossain Junior, who was in batting with 42 runs, scored a polished 76 runs off 122 balls with the help of three fours and one six while another overnight national coloured batsman Rakibul Hasan failed to add any run to his previous 82 runs, featuring nine fours and two sixes.

After the departure of five batsmen for 370 runs, number six Nadif Chowdury partnering with Tanvir Hyder scored 73 runs in the 6th wicket stand to carry the team to 443 runs from 370, reports UNB.

Number seven batsman Tanvir Hyder hammered 77 runs off 111 balls hitting five fours and two sixes while Nadif Chowdhury made 80-ball 40 runs including three boundaries.

In reply, Prime Bank South Zone opened the 2nd innings Thursday afternoon and scored 120 for 3 in 26 overs when bails were drawn for the 4th and last day (Thursday) to settle for draw.

One down Shahriar Nafees remained not out on 50 runs off 63 balls with four fours and two sixes, Al Amin was also in batting with 20 runs after the departure of national opener Soumya Sarker (18), Ziaur Rahman (14) and Tushar Imran (16).

Ebadat Hossain and Tanvir Hyder took one wicket each.

Nurul Hasan of South Zone, who scored 133 runs in the first innings, was adjudged the man of the match.
