Mominul falls as Tigers reach 467/7 at lunch

Bangladesh batsman Mominul Haque blasted 176 runs off 214, courtesy to 16 fours and one six before being dismissed by Sri Lankan’s Rangana Herath at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong on Thursday morning.

Bangladesh managed to add 93 more to the scoreboard for three wickets before lunch stretching the total from yesterday’s 374 to 467 in118 overs in the first innings of the first Test against the visiting Lankans.

Unbeaten Mohammad Mahmudullah is one run away from fifty off 91 balls in the morning session.

After Mominul, Herath struck again and picked Mosaddek Hossain at his 8 while Mehidy Hasan Miraz fell victim of run-out at 20.

Earlier on day one, Mominul reached the 2,000-run milestone from 47 innings, playing so far 26 matches.

Mahmudullah, who has replaced Shakib Al Hasan in the first Test as a captain, won the toss and elected to bat first on Wednesday.
