Gary Kirsten, who led India to a World Cup win, arrived in Dhaka on Sunday night to work for the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) as a consultant.

The Tigers were hoping to get tormer South Africa batsman on a long-term basis, but now it seems he will not be working with the BCB for long.

"He had previously agreed to work till the World Cup. But due to other engagements he will only help us find a new coach," said BCB chief executive officer Nizamuddin Chowdhury.

However, Kirsten will also work with the national players. "At present, he is doing an internal audit of the national team, keeping the future ICC events in mind. He will let us know which areas need improvement," Nizamuddin added.

The BCB boss said Kirsten is meeting the players individually. He will sit with the selectors and board directors as well.

On finding a new coach, he said, "We had made a short-list and sent him the names. It seems he has already spoke to a few on the list. He has some choices of his own as well."
