Williamson, Pathan guide Hyderabad to 178

Skipper Kane Williamson top-scored with 47 as Sunrisers Hyderabad posted 178 for six against Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League Twenty20 final on Sunday.

Put into bat, Hyderabad lost regular wickets but Williamson and Yusuf Pathan, who was unbeaten on 45 at the end, steered the 2016 champions to a competitive total at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium.

Carlos Brathwaite also hit an 11-ball 21 to help Hyderabad add 52 runs in the last five overs. Chennai’s South African paceman Lungi Ngidi returned figures of 1-26.

Chennai, who returned this season after a two-year ban over corruption, are looking for their third IPL title.
