Shakib surpasses Finch to become World Cup’s top scorer

Bangladesh stalwart Shakib Al Hasan has become the top scorer in the ongoing ICC Men's World Cup, reports UNB.

While chasing 321 runs of West Indies on Monday at Taunton, Shakib surpassed Australia's Aaron Finch who had 343 from five matches.

The ace all-rounder started the match in the 5th position of the top scorers' list of the World Cup. He needed at least 84 runs to surpass Finch. He was batting on 92 runs 76 balls till filing of this report.

Shakib hit two fifties (75 against South Africa, 64 against New Zealand) and one century (121 against England) before coming to Monday's match against West Indies. He hit another fifty in this match.

Along the way, he completed 6000 runs as the only second Bangladeshi after Tamim Iqbal. Tamim had taken 177 matches to reach the milestone while Shakib took 202 matches.
