Argentina trained behind closed doors on Friday at their Belo Horizonte training base before flying out to Rio de Janeiro for Sunday's final against Germany for which the South Americans hope Angel di Maria will recover in time from injury.

Real Madrid winger Di Maria, who missed the semi-final against the Netherlands with a thigh injury he sustained against Belgium in the last eight, trained apart from the rest of the team as he stepped up both ball and speed drills.

"He's continuing to progress," said the Argentine Football Association in a brief reference to Di Maria's physical state.
