Over 40,000 qualify for enrolment with medical colleges

A total of 41,132 students have secured the minimum required marks in the admission test for enrolment with medical colleges at bachelor's level, according to results published on Monday.

However, only 9,543 of the successful candidates will be able to get admission in the contry's 100 medical colleges -- in public and private sectors.

The admission seekers will be accommodated based on their position in the merit list.

A total of 3,318 of them will be enrolled with 31 state-run medical colleges. The admission process in these colleges will be completed between 17-28 October.

Sixty nine private medical colleges will then provide opportunity of admission to 6,225 of the candidates from the list of succesful ones.

According to the published test results, only two candidates have secured more than 90 marks while the candidate at the bottom of the merit list got 70.5.

The admission test for all the medical colleges was held simultaneously on last Friday. A total of 82,788 students sat for the test.

The authorities deducted 5 marks of the candidates who appeared in the admission test for the second time.
