Jahangirnagar University Day celebrated

The authorities of Jahangirnagar University on Thursday celebrated the University Day to mark its 46th founding anniversary on the campus amid much fervour and festivity.

Marking the day, the university wore a festive look as former and current students, employees, officers and teachers joined the programme with banners, balloons and festoons of different colours. 

JU vice-chancellor professor Farzana Islam inaugurated the programme in front of Business Studies faculty premises by hoisting the national flag while Pro-VC professor Abul Hossain hoisted the university flag this morning at about 10:00am.

Later, led by JU VC professor Farzana Islam a colourful procession was brought out from the Business Studies faculty premises and paraded main streets of the campus. The procession ended at Selim Al Deen Mukta Mancha.

However, the day-long programme included a puppet show, screening cinema, staging drama and cultural function at Selim al Deen Muktamancha.

JU was founded on 20 August 20, 1970 and formally began the academic activities as a residential university on 12 January, 1971 with four departments, 21 teachers and 150 students and three residential halls.

Moreover, the Alumni Day will be held tomorrow on the campus which includes colourful rally, discussion and memory making session.
