DU hosts two-day int’l conference

A two-day international conference was kicked off on Friday at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury senate building on Dhaka University (DU) campus.

DU sociology department is organizing the conference titled “South Asian Sociology” marking its 60 years anniversary, said a DU press release.

Jatiya Sangsad (JS) speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury will address the inaugural session of the conference as the chief guest while former president of the International Sociological Association and prominent sociologist Padma Bhushan professor TK Oommen will address as the chief speaker.

DU professor vice-chancellor (academic) professor Nasreen Ahmad will address the conference as the special guest while AKM Sa’aduddin Ahmed, professor BK Jahangir and professor Anupam Sen will attend as guests of honor.

DU sociology department chairman professor Nehal Karim will preside over the conference.
