The posts of different government jobs, which will remain vacant for not getting eligible candidates from quota, will be filled from merit lists, UNB reports.

The government issued a notification in this regard relaxing its previous system of preserving the vacant posts.

The decision came amid countrywide protests by job seekers demanding reform in the existing quota system in government jobs.

In all the recruitment processes if posts under quota fall vacant that will be filled from merit lists, the notification added.

As per previous rules, if eligible candidates are not found for filling the posts under quota, they remain vacant.

This has, however, resulted in a number of positions remain vacant for years.
